Description
Ultra Fractal 5.04, with seven-layers used. The six "design" layers all incorporate Ron's colouring formula, LSystems -New.
The cup is named after the first schooner to win the race back in 1851.
The race is usually between two yachts - a challenger and a defender. Where more vessels wish to compete the challengers duel with each other until one yacht remains and it becomes the official challenger. The USA (New York Yacht Club) beat all challengers until 1983 when Australia II (Royal Perth Yacht Club) was the winner. This is the longest winning streak in any sport (132-years), but since then the cup has been held by New Zealand (twice), and by Switzerland (also twice). Currently the cup is held by the Golden Gate Yacht Club of San Francisco and they will be the defenders next year. Legal disputes seem to be a regular feature.
My interest comes from the inclusion of a few sets of stamps in my collection which portray some of the races.
