Description
Titan CV Main Airlock Deck & Surface EVA
This is an on-going series. See Mars terraforming image links below.
This set of images completes the cycle from EVA preparation to stepping onto the surface of Titan and represents a follow-up to my previous post’s Titan CV EVA Prep Deck, and Titan CV EVA Prep Deck – Detail View.
Upper image: Two fully suited figures step into the Crew-Elevator Airlock which will lower them to the surface below.
The Main Airlock Deck is the lowermost deck of the spacecraft; it houses the airlocks which grant access to the surface. There are two airlocks. Airlock One is an elevator for crew surface access. Airlock Two is a lift platform to accommodate equipment. The equipment lock also serves as the connective node between the two spacecraft when the Crew Vehicle is docked to the Interplanetary Orion stage.
Note: In the upper quadrant of this image a portion of the EVA Prep Deck is visible. If you examine my previous two posts you will see the complexity of the multi-level set constructed for this series of images.
Lower Image: Crew disembark onto the surface of Titan beneath the looming bulk of the 10K ton 200 foot diameter Crew Vehicle. I wanted to graphically illustrate the contrast of scale between the human figure and the spacecraft. Beyond the space suited figures the Nitrogen/Methane and H20 recovery operation landing craft and production site is visible in the middle distance.
Model Credits:
Space suit is a Google SketchUp 3DS model of the NASA Mk III suit design created by Max Grueter.
Chair is Davo’s Modular Command Chair stripped down to the most basic configuration – textures tweaked by me.
Crew Airlock uses components of Davo’s modular space-station.
Tall cabinets and Table are Dystopia Office Pack 2 exported into Bryce, modified and rescaled.
All other models are my own constructed in Bryce 6.3 and rendered in Bryce 7 Pro.
As always thank you for your interest, thoughtful comments, and encouragement.
