What's a small town to do to attract tourists to stop by?
The Arts Council of Ottawa, Illinois came up with the idea of painting public art murals on walls of old downtown buildings.
The mural above employs trompe l'oeil and really caught my eye. Click Here for trompe l'oeil wiki.
The subject above is Brigadier General William H. L. Wallace, an early resident of Ottawa, a lawyer during peacetime and a Union General during the American Civil War in the 1860s.
Ottawa now has at least seven of these large colorful murals depicting famous events and scenes of their local history.

That's amazing! certainly catches the eye.I'm impressed not only by the art but with your iPhone too, did you get any of the others? First came accross 'Trompe l'oeil' many years ago, I always wanted to do this on the sitting room wall, with a life size Tiger tank bursting through! the Wife prefers flowery wallpaper...sigh!!! (maybe one day)..
