UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

It is a most attractive place. You are winning me over with these superb pics.

I like the warm light in these three shots.

Looks a really super place to visit.

It's interesting how the shadows project onto each other. Multiple spot lights and fill lights, which are visible in the light ramps in the background. The shadows show where the spots are aimed and located. You've done a good job with capturing the light and shadow. Keep up the good work! :-)

I will have to go there some day.

The light must be good, the first thing I saw was the 'Gobblin' ;-) Given the height of the lights I'm assuming it's the metal floor that provides so much 'up-light' to illuminate under the wings? (I'm working backwards on these three so if you've mentioned this earlier, I'll see it later :-) I'm familiar with 'deceive the eye' and I'm intrigued to see what you have up your sleeve.......(or in your camera bag)

LOVE the Thunderflash!

Very cool capture

Again, outstanding lighting effects, Bill. I could swear that's a Republic F-84 Thunderjet/Thunderstreak smack dab in the center, with a B-29 at the far right. That straight rectangular wing at the left has me puzzled as to the make and model.

lovely shot of the lighting of this place

wonderful photo!!

I do love the lights that seem to be in the sky -- the darkened upper reaches of the ceiling. Beautiful capture!

The lighting really is stunning. To infinity and beyond! :)

I love this series Bill. What a cool looking museum. I recall visiting the Air & Space Museum in Washingtin D.C. and I was blown away. Excellent shot my friend. :)

Another beautiful shot, some of the lighting in here was really great for the aircraft and made them look BRILLIANT! But dark corners (The Starfighter come to mind) were dark and very badly lit.. It is a really, really big place, and they try their very best to get so much in.. I gather they are going to or have started another hanger to spread out more.. that would help.. But I really enjoyed my visit! A stunning museum.. Shame some of my attempts a photos did not come out well.. Rob

You have capturing the essance of the museum experience down to a fine art, Bill! This is cool beyond description!

Wow... somewhere to spend an afternoon or three!!!

They really are light magicians.. and you have done a wonderful job capturing it.

Another fine job dealing with "museum lighting." A great cast of characters, too. I love the RF-84 and I met an old timer who actually worked on the Goblin parasite fighter.

this one is so jazzy, with that big wing on the left, jutting out like a protective eave. It makes it so much of a performance. I mean the word, these shots are like ballet scenes, with their own formations, steps and music. This one is the most operatic of the bunch. I realize the curators set this up (I assume you didn't go up to them and say, "do you mind if I move that plane a little to the left---just for the shot! I'll put it back, I promise"...) But you chose the pov, you chose the crop, you chose the settings and/or postwork that gave us this particular tableaux. (Remember, "tableaux" is from the same root as "table," and implies setting up everything on a flat space for presentation. It's why it's used in dance scenes...) And for all that ganglia, of planes and their parts and lights and interactions and golds and reds, etc---all in the center---you have the open floor in front, and the beautiful black dark in back, with those wonderful lights sweeping out. I just love this shot, like the planes got together for a dance-shot, and then dispersed afterwards. And your point about the light is all over it. A great series. I just loved it. And I'm glad I'm at last commenting on it. Fav's all around. Drinks're on me. Give that man an aged Scotch! The sky's the limit...
