Description

New Brighton Lighthouse, High Tide (9.1m) 10:08am March 7th 2012. This is what happens with a relatively light onshore breeze...despite appearances it was a pleasant day in New Brighton today, though a slight breeze made for some dramatic water.Saturday (10th) is the highest tide of the year 10m and the forcast is 'blustery', sea state 'rough'....High Tide 12:00 noon....I'll be there :-) Sorry if these get monotonous, but it's literally on the doorstep of work and I'm spending so much time there of late....this is how I spend my downtime....

Wow! Nice one Neil, love it. If this on a calm sea, I can't wait to see the rough seas version.

Monotonous? Are you kidding? This is great stuff. We don't have anything like this on our doorstep. Even when Puget Sound gets stirred up (very rare) it doesn't approach this for vigor. I think the last time I saw this lighthouse it was low tide and there was no water near... Very cool.

No way are these monotonous Neil and being one who loves the coast i'd love to see more. As Bill points out, not everyone is lucky enough to have views like this on their doorstep and there are so many wonderful sights around the country so keep em coming :)

Oh, my! I've sometimes wondered why the entry door is so high up on some light houses. NOW I understand why! Not due to pirates but to very high tides! This is an excellent image showing the effects of a "slight" breeze on a high tide breaking over the rocks. I can just imagine what would happen if a ship were to come at night, high tide, and no light house present. I doubt if any of the crew would survive being battered over those submerged rocks. This is quite dramatic a photo. I can just hear the noise and feel the breeze! And, I'm looking foreward to tomorrows maxi high tide and blustry breeze posting! But do take care you don't get soaked! :-) As for Ariadne, you're thinking "arachnid" (spider). But a web of mines IS very appropriate! Thanks for the comment! As for admiral and bath time, these are all waterline models, wherefore they capsize if placed in water. :)
