Description

The Common Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) is a bird of prey species belonging to the kestrel group of the falcon family Falconidae. It is also known as the European Kestrel, Eurasian Kestrel, or Old World Kestrel. In Britain, where no other brown falcon occurs, it is generally just called "the kestrel". The Eastern Canary Island subspecies of the Common Kestrel, Falco tinnunculus dacotiae, is confined to Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and a few surrounding islets, but it is common and widespread throughout this range. Compared to the nominate race, the male of this sub-species tends to be paler above but with heavier breast spotting. Local name: sarnicolo Le Faucon crécerelle (Falco tinnunculus), est une petite espèce d'oiseau de proie agile de la famille des falconidés. C'est l’un des rapaces les plus communs en Europe, en Afrique et en Asie. Thank you for your comments on my previous upload : thumb_2307248.jpg "Birds on the wire (#1) : Common Buzzard"

Not quite as colorful as our American Kestrel, but still a very pretty bird. Nice photo, too!

Lovely shot Michel and comparing the two shots they both look to be in the same spot!
