The fairy gate to Summerland(for JaneEden)
A huge image that is best viewed at full screen.
I recently received the fine gifts, of 2 hand painted background packages, from my Renderosty friend Jane Aka. JaneEden.
This image is number 2/2 dedication image i post, in gratitude for the fine gifts.
The 2 packages are: JaneEdens Spring Fantasy, and, JaneEdens Winter Moods.
My input for this image, was the gift from Jane, Loreena McKennits song..The stolen child(a song Jane likes).
And of course...William Butler Yeats(1865-1939) poem..The stolen child(1886).
Here is a link if you wish to read the poem:

My first step was to figure out, what W.B Yeats is telling with his beautiful poem.
Because that is the key, to it all. That took me quite some effort, to figure out what i believe.
The stolen child, poem... is all about.
First i read lots of analysis of the poem here.
Click here to read the poetry analysis.
A few analysts bring usefull information, about rational explanations to crisis like, when Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) or some other disease takes a child's life unexpectedly.
But also the fact, that W.B Yeats infant brother died, in his childhood.
After many hours of Googling...I found out where and when....W.B. Yeats infant brother was burried. Here are some are some interesting facts about the Yeats family.
Click here to read about the it.
Robert Corbet Yeats(March 27.th -1870-March 3.rd 1873), died 3 weeks before his 3.rd birthday.
William Butler Yeats were only 7 years old.. When his infant brother, died unexpectedly.
A shock for a 7 year old boy.. Everyone in the Yeats family were artists.
So i actually think that the Yeats parents, had to try and explain to William..
What had happened to his infant brother...in a way a child, would understand.
I think they maybe used the pagan illussion, according to Celtic Lore/Irish mythology, Wiccan philosopy, folklore and legend.
That fairies stole/allured his brother, and took him to
The Summerland (The beyond, or, The afterlife dimension).
Many people were superstitious at that time, and many believed deeply, in Irish folklore.
So in 1873 it would make a rational and acceptable explanation, for when a small child die unexpectedly...And noone could explain why it happened. Maybe it was SIDS.
So i think William Butler Yeats.. use this dramatic childhood memory...as inspiration.
He turn it into a very beautiful poem. It is a poet's way of telling a tragic story.
The same story his parents might have told him in 1873, when he asked what had happend to his infant brother.
By using certain beautiful wordings and sentences, it is possible to make a tragedy sound beautiful. Maybe a young poets private challenge, and maybe even self therapy.
And i tried my best to merge, the poem, the song, Jane's fantasy background, and my bid on the truth about the poem.
Into a beautiful fairytale image. :)
I hope you like the image, the poem and the song.
Thanks for any comments and or faves.

There are many stories of people being taken by fairies and other wee folk.Jaques Vallee and others draw parallels between these beliefs and tales of modern alien abductions.Fine work on this version of the motif.

Oh dear Lars you have excelled yourself here thank you so much for fulfilling my request this song has special meaning to me, I adore it and could listen to it time and time again. In our family we have had childhood losses, so I can understand why one of my fave poets would write this poem to give himself comfort, so that he could believe that his brother was taken by the fairies which would be a far better option for his mind to accept. I really do appreciate even more now how much you research into each of your artworks, it becomes an adventure to you, and I was so happy to be drawn into this one my dear friend. As for your art it shows just what initiative you show in melding a few backgrounds together, this is exactly what I would wish anyone to do, so as to express their own individuality when using my backgrounds, it is outstanding art and I shall just sit here a while and ponder upon it, and thank you so much for being such a dear friend in creating this for me. hugs Jane xx
