It,s a Remington typewriter LOL No, really, I have not idea! Looks like a machinegun, or an airpowered rifle. But i dont bet my life to it!
coyoteviper
been a long time, but looks like a 240 machine gun with mills laser equipment attached for mock engagements, used on the m40A1 tank. but could also be mounted on tripod for ground personnel. like I said though, it has been a long time. regardless, brought back a lot of memories and faces of old friends now gone. thanks for posting it. Old friends should not be forgotten.

Don't ask a lady these things, it looks like a petrol tank on top. I have no idea, but you will keep them guessing. Glenda

The color blue is used for training aids to include inert (dummy) munitions. I don't recognize this training weapon...my educated guess is that it is a training machinegun...probably used for aiming drills, making range cards, etc. Looks fairly old.

Thanks Bill.

Yep, bright colours are normally used on training weapons.. And that could well be an Early type of laser sight.. Interesting and I imagine, rare shot.. Rob

It looks like to me that it is a VGO Vickers Gasoperated Machinegun AKA Vickers K gun http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vickers_K_machine_gun, Butt grip and firing mehanisms ,possibly a gunnery training 'camera-gun' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_camera most likly, used late 1930s-1940s to train what was Called back then a Wireless Operator Gunner in the use of suchweapons on what was caled a 'flexible mounting' Using a special electericaly controled Camera to take Pictures of anothe training Aircraft operating as an Attacker to verify the Gunners aim in trianing . Very intresting picture actually and a very early example of a 'synhetic trainer' device

my guess is that when you're shooting, the sound reminds of the old remingtom typerwiter but a tad louder LOL
bullsnook
Nice one, and looks like well worth the question

It definitely looks like a 'vic', but as far as the wirings connections, dials and what nots it seems to be something of a Human Performance Technology (HPT) Primer for fire combat, or as mentioned before, a target trainer (same difference if one were to ask me...a friend of mine mentioned something the military used before miles gear was instituted...ISMIT is what he thinks it's called. I hope this helps.
