Description

My children and partners came around last summer to dig a little pond for me. A long wished for addition to my garden, just for wildlife. No fish, just a few plants for whatever turns up to appreciate their effort. The frogs have been about a few weeks waiting for the water to warm up enough I suppose. So today the spawning started. They where completely under water, I used a polarising filter on the lens to take off the surface reflections of (my conservatory)! In case you wondered why it is so free of glare.

Great shot - looks like you may have a lot of frogs before too long...

A great result! A lot of the seeds you sent me have hatched already, BTW!

Can't beat the old circular polarizing filter to curtail glare and reflections Kevin, wonderful pond you have there, look at all that spawn, I remember gathering it in jam jars as a kid, and hatching hundreds of tadpoles, pollywogs to our American cousins. I used to keep them until they became tiny little replicas of their parents, perfectly formed tiny frogs on the end of a finger. Now what a great close up or macro that scenario would be, keep your eye on that opportunity Kevin, and ready that shutter finger :}

I have not seen even one frog on our walks at night this year. 5 years ago you couldn't walk out at night in March without fear of treading on them as they plopped their way to the many ponds around here. I wish your frogspawn every success in hatching out and look forward to seeing what develops.

Wonderful capture of this romantic scene! No fish means the spawn have a better chance of surviving, I guess. Can't wait to see all the new frogs!
