Description
I have been asked how the system of mooring chains and ropes work. Tara you were almost correct in your assumption. The chains are laid down in a grid pattern and the boat owners rent or buy a certain part so then they will attach a mooring bouy and rope to the chain (at low tide of course). To reach their boat when the tide is in the owners use a small dinghy which is then left at the mooring whilst they are at sea. The reason why there are not many boats here in my pics is because it is now winter - in the summer the harbour will be quite full.
Thankyou for your interest. Jeff.

Nice image, I think I would have shot this from lower to the ground looking more up at the boats and then getting the full mountains also in the frame.

Another really fine shot, and it's nice to have the info as too how and why! I figured it would be much fuller in Winter lol Good one mate Rob

Why are the boats covered, are they afraid they will get muddy. Nice photo.

The grid system makes such good sense...fascinating to me. I grew up on Long Island, New York where we had numerous tidal flats come and go each day. Looks like the key for the larger boats is to be moored far enough away from your neighbor not to lean against him at low tide.

The boat owners do not have to attach their boats? Rite? Love the dark blue boat to the front of the left side. :)))) Most excellent capture my friend. :))))) Thank you for sharing my friend. :))))) Carry A Smile In Your Heart :))))))

It is a totally foreign system to me too, so I thank you also for the explanation. Fascinating stuff, and great detailed captures!
