Description

After my moment of boredom in my last post, I decided to try something a bit more useful and sensible. I found a decent Jupiter texture map on the internet as well as a photo of the Enterprise. I used GIMP to create the planet and the starfield, and removed the background from the Enterprise. I added semi-transparent slightly blurred layers to take away the artificial appearance of both planet and Enterprise. I then went for a comic-book presentation... just to see how it looked. Does it work? Thanks for looking ^_^ Iain

Very Cute indeed. - Juper looks super. [re. the dialog - -? warp-factor 7, and Di-Lithium cracking station, would be more correct?]

In "Where No Man Has Gone Before" it's a Lithium Cracking Station I think... as for the warp speed - they are doing Warp point 7... not full warp speed. I could have said "on impulse power" but I thought I would try to match TMP, where Sulu is calling out the speed until they hit Warp 1 ^_^ Thanks for the comment, Kinchie... much appreciated, matey.

Should have asked 'Scotty'.....he'd have said "Two days...but as you don't have two days, we'll be there in eight hours" :-) I think this works very well, everything blends very well. Of course now you know it works.....we're going to expect a comic strip.....

Thanks folks... I think I was lucky finding a decent photo of the Enterprise with a starless background for this. What do you call this? I thought it was a bit of a cheat using a photo of the ship, but at work I don't have access to my models, or Bryce hahaha It is 2D art? I have no idea.

I like how you did this one, and I think the comic-book style framing works really well. Your starscape in the background looks really good, too. If you want to add nebulae-type effects I've found photographs of clouds produces amazingly effective nebulae! Wonderful job on this.
