Description

USS Reid (FFG 30) This is a photo taken from the bow of the USS Reid towards the bridge. The three foreward facing windows are the same as seen to the right in my previous post. Notice how high the bridge wings are. This is to protect the crew from bad weather when on the wings, searching the sea with binoculars. We also have a good look at the Mk 13 missile launcher and the RIM 66E surface to air missile in this photo. The large cylindrical part is the magazine for the missiles. The whole magazine can be lifted out if necessary. The small cylinder the Mk 13 launcher is standing on rotates the launcher towards the target. This explains why the red warning circle is centered on the launcher’s center of rotation. The people give a good idea of the size of the launcher and missile. For more information about the missile and launcher, see my previous post at - http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=2312293&user_id=5273&np&np (The pyramidal building in the right background is the Transamerica Building at 600 Montgomery Street, downtown San Francisco. It’s become an icon for the city.) Enjoy! PS - thanks for all the funny comments, Neil, Rob, Bill!

And a great view once more...complete with Tower in the background! Great view of the bridge and the Missile Launcher, no gun I note.. U.K. 'Officials' went through a no gun needed phase! Then realised ONCE MORE that they were in the Falklands as a few Destroyers and Frigates equipped with QF Guns, shelled the shore! Now, most have them... Mmm! Lesson? NEVER let arseheads in Government tell Military people what THEY need! They always get it wrong.. Great shot once more.. Neil and myself are trolling down to Duxford which is my way mate not his.. I live near there.. And several other museums.. I would have said RAF bases but... our Government has decided we don't need them anymore! Oh grief.... Can you see whats coming? Rob

I am really enjoying this series mate, you have the same effortless touch as Neil, when coveying technical data. Not too much, but enough to satisfy (oo'err missus!) PS: Hope T.Rex isn't too hungry yet, got to wait until tomorrow for more 'food'

Another belter, combined with the blueprints you sent, these are going to be very usefull ;-) I see another great Navy game....the sailors throw 'spit wads' at the big red button...if they hit it, the missile drops on the kids head....great fun :-)
