USS Reid (FFG 30)
This photo is taken inside the bridge, showing communication, weapons control and navigation instruments.
The captain’s chair has been “invaded” by the blond girl in white top. Just above the crew member’s hand is the throttle which contols the ship’s speed. This has replaced the classic engine telegraph seen in older ships. Just to the right of the throttle is a small, flat wheel with a knob – this is the ship’s wheel for steering it! It responds quickly and is very easy to twiddle around if a fast turn is necessary (like when dodging a torpedo attack). The other instruments are for navigation and weapons control. The window to the right looks foreward to the bow.
Does a ship go "VROOM! VROOM! Beep! Beep!"? From the photo, it almost looks it!
:)
Enjoy!

Very neat ...if over crowded shot! I'm assuming that there wouldn't be as many on the bridge at a time of action.. Or maybe there would? I once went on the bridge of a Cruise ship, an 28,000tonne one.. It was like this, small wheel etc.. But much bigger! lol Another top shot mate! You are doing well.. The scans are...scanned and on the P.C. Are being sharpened etc as we speak! lol Take care Rob

"The Captains chair has been 'invaded' by the blonde in the white top and the Captain (Magnum PI look-a-like) is busy looking down her white top, checking out her 'floatation bags'"....it's a hard life in the modern Navy :-) The little lad in the red shirt seems to be playing a game with the sailor.."I bet I can press that 'FIRE' button before you can stop me"... As for "Vroom,Vroom..beep,beep" as long as it's not going "Glug,Glug" why not? (Don't let the silly comments fool you, I'm really enjoying these, all new to me (except the Phalanx), and there are plenty of serious, relavent and well deserved comments already....) 10/10 Excellent series mate..
