Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

WOW - It is massive! A lovely image of this celebration of the start of your spring/summer!

This is great. Love the over-sized chair & all the little people going about their business. In the U.S., it's published as "Where's Waldo?". Don't know why they felt the need to change the name...

I found Waldo Jr ... just down and to the right from center. White and red striped shirt, blue jeans, and a red cap. :) Wonderful image!

Again, awesome capture of Gulliver's chair sitting amidst the Lilliputians, enjoying themselves at the beach. I like the repetitive serrated huts in the background.

I still think it's the coolest thing ever; and look at all those people out in the sun already! It isn't nearly warm enough for that here yet.

This one is also great - and it must be warming up, people starting to peel off the layers! but no doxies allowed on this beach? BB

ok, this was another shot of yours that, when it went up, just made me nuts. With glee. I saw Paul Sample's work (from your link) and love it...This is a big busy morass of a shot---a type of shot I always like because I love when artists make music out of seeming randomness and chaos. But your postwork somehow separates the people & elements, makes them all seem separate entities, and gives a clarity to the shot that the original, I assume, didn't have. Part of it is that your postwork creates subtle 'edges' around each person & object. But part of it is a slight flattening of the morphed hues of nature, and your signature breakup of surfaces into concentric 'islands' of hue after hue. (This is very hard to put into words.) So it's slightly flattened, which makes each person & object an object of design---always a clarifying feature in 'crowd' shots. But then it's also the composition itself---coagulations of people & stuff in groups, and those wonderful white triangles over the stalls or cubicles (whatever those are in the background, left). And all this almost makes the main attraction---a deck chair for brontosauri---seem almost an afterthought. Then, of course, we see the chair, and it's quite a sight...This it the type of picture that may have a central 'character' (the chair), but which is about everything else in addition. Love the composition, and love the postwork. Terrific.
