Description

This beautiful turkey adopted me several years ago. She would watch me work in my cages and soon found out that there was food involved. She will now follow me around and hatches her young every year in my woods. I was sitting about 15 feet from her when I took this. She posed very pretty, don't you think?

She is awesome! My experiences with wild turkies always seemed to involve them displaying an aggressive attitude. I think animals must just sense your very special "gift"... I have had many wonderful experiences with wild animals, however birds seem to be the last to trust me. I live in a Bird Sancuary and finally after ten years, only now are some starting to repay all the food donations over the years! We have seven enormous Peacocks that just blows my little white Maltese dog "Mickey" away... he is always ever so quiet when they come around into our yard and they come up close and he just watches them in total amazement yet I see he has goosebumps because his fur bristles out - LOL! I have to be ever vigilant about the Hawks, Eagles, and some of the other large birds that could easily carry off a small dog. Mickey has never met another animal he doesn't like, and is always so quiet, gentle, trusting and willing to be friends. I think he too has your "gift". We had a American Bald Eagle Nest by the lake beside me but I think it is now recently deserted. It had come back and rebuilt after the hurricanes a few years ago and was a delight to watch.
