Description

Took a long walk in Grants Pass yesterday & took this photo of a trompe l'oeil mural there. The wall of this building is completely flat & the mural does a very effective job of tricking the eye into thinking it juts out. I don't know why the painted sky above the painted building ends part way up the real building. Was it intentional? Did they run out of money? Did the owner of the building have a falling out with the artist? Did the artist suddenly develop acrophobia? Will it be finished some day? It's a mystery to me... Please zoom

That is just too cool. What a great mural! We saw a couple of these in Ottawa, Illinois, but this is the best. Fabulous painting, and your shot is outstanding!

I bet on a blue sky day with clouds the effect of having part of the building hangning in the air happens often enough to bring people to a stop. That is my guess as to why it stops. This is wonderful and the effect had me fooled until I read your story.

A very controversial subject, no doubt - but it does the trick, pardon the pun! like a little Sci-Fi building floating above ... a bit like in the movie 'Avatar', thanks for sharing this with us, BB
