Description

Wanted to see if I could achieve a credible explosion/fire effect ... Well it's not perfect but I think it can 'do the trick' ... Comments and advices are highly welcome. As usual, posed and set up in Daz Studio. Materials tweaking, lighting and rendering in Octane Render. I used a low intensity HDRI map plus some meshlights for lighting and pathtracing kernel. Postwork in Gimp for resizing and signature only. Thanks for viewing and taking time to leave a comment. Have a great time. Many thanks too for your comments and favs on my previous image. thumb_2313936.jpg Feel free to visit my gallery Models used : Victoria 4.2 (Daz3D) BEO2K10 V2 (mighty_mestophales/Sequestrian) MRL Bijou (Mirhelle) Paris 65 hair (FK Design) Cyber Suit for V4 (Xurge3d) The Dark Star (Stonemason)

La scène est spectaculaire, les poses sont super dynamiques et l'effet "feu" est très réaliste, excellent job, Thierry !

Looks pretty credible to me, Thierry, especially where it looks to be starting to "roll" along the top of the corridor. I would've maybe lessened the DoF a tad and added some motion blur to the characters... easier said than done, I know. All-in-all a very fine looking render with excellent lighting.

very cool!! How'd you make the fireball? Something to think about, if it is a spectral type object, put another one around it, larger, but easier to see thru and make it smoky black plus red flames for the outside. The white/yellow for the bright center as you have, and have the center emit light (as you do I think). Very cool!

Ce que j'aime avec Octane, c'est la profondeur de champ très réaliste :) Magnifique composition et bel effet d'explosion. Excellent. B->

Looks damn excellent from where i'm sitting Thierry. The lighting of the corridor makes it seem as if they really do have just a few seconds left to make their escape. Very well done!

@ phfrancke : you know, I'm rather lazy so I always try to do things on the easyiest way ... I used a photo of an explosion found on the net. Then I created an alpha mask with this same photo (b&w and increased contrast). I added a square plane positioned where I wanted the flames to be. I turned the plane to emissive material, put the image on the diffuse, the distribution and the efficiency slots, the alpha on the opacity slot. Ah, and I added a low temperature blackbody emitter behind the plane to illuminate the corridor with a 'fire' color. Damn, I shouldn't reveal my tricks, everybody would imagine that I'm a genius modeler ;oD
