Description

The original pocket watch of this image was made in Amapi a now Carrara sub program. The "Chronometer" pocket watch here was rendered in CARRARA 2 with sky and global indirect lighting for a more natural effect. You can see this model popping up in a few of my scenes... such as the "Reflections" abstract. Time pieces, seem to still hold some facination with people.. well me at least! I decided to use my own name on the model because that is the norm with proper watch makers, so I stuck with tradition. ***** By the way. Anyone that says that IIII is not a number (Roman) is WRONG! Both IV and IIII are correct but in watch making the use of IIII is MORE common! Try this site out for proof... I did not find any clock with "IV" instead of IIII representing 4 (four) http://www.formby-clocks.co.uk/Page2%20C801.htm

A bit polygonal around the dials where there are supposed to be smooth but that is the only thing I see wrong.

Yup..."IIII" is correct for a watch face. So decreed by Charles the Wise [France] who was so-called in his own lifetime. Thus he often had to act like he perfectl;y understood things that he didn't quite. The blue of the background seems to be the same blue showing around the dial. Is the back off? Am I looking through the glass and beyond?

Just as an answer... The model is made with various metal procedurals. Some of these are reflective. The sky dome is the main source of light and the render is global with indirect lighting on... The effect of the sky reflecting off the bezel ring as if transparent is just chance. Regarding any polygon visibility.. I have a refined model wire frame, but when this was rendered I was economising on poly counts. thanks for your comments.. Joe Wallis.. TanGenT-TGT
