Description
Captured 3/21/12, at the semi beautiful El Dorado Nature Center in beautiful Long Beach, California.
ZOOM worthy.
Sorry, I'm too lazy for a collage today, even though I have enough fotos to create one.
As rustic as you can get in this scene. Log post configurations like this are situated by the trail in many spots, along with a myriad of different style benches.
Incidentally, this nature center is far from being a rain forest, or even an arboretum. Even with a lake, a river, and extensive trees/foliage, it is probably the most desiccated 105 acres of land I've ever encountered. It even smells hot and dry, especially with the vast carpets of dead leaves littering the ground. And it's like that in the fall and winter also. Needless to say, no fungi there.
Ta-ta, thankx for coming aboard, and for any and all favs and noncritical comments.

I like how your lines lead us right into the photo, nice work. Looks like a great place to spend some time.

Well, it's not a big surprise that it's so dry there, Harry; if the area hadn't been settled it would have been a big desert, according to all I've heard. Definitely not enough rain there for my taste! But despite that, this looks like a pleasant cool haven from the SoCal sunshine, a nice place to rest and perhaps have a drink or a picnic. And I'll bet there are squirrels to feed. Excellent shot, Harry!

A shame that's it's so dry. Still a nice place to sit.

I like it just the way it is - no need for a collage, so much more interesting, especially those log posts, a beautiful way of fencing in those seats - could almost belong to the Flintstones family. BB

Reminds me allot of London Zoo.. They use posts like these around the place .. It looks pretty much left alone, and thats good.. Wildlife will love it.. Good shot.. Rob

Very rustic and totally cool Harry!

I like the shot and I am thinking that the posts help keeping the walkers from rolling off the edge!

I'll end today's session with an older item, among the many I've still not commented on...I chose it precisely for its starkness of subject, and because of how you tackled a challenge---not only of a parched place, but of a place with many similar hues. Your composition, as pointed out above, leads us in, takes us on a journey. Finely conceived. And you've captured dappling everywhere: In the front half, filled as it is with dried browns and grays, the dappling breathes deep life into it. It's really beautiful, Harry. And the back half is given life by those same dapples. And you 'ended' the shot on the right with a couple of bare trunks. A perfect continuation of the posts...An intimate, inviting shot, considering how parched it is; and with beautiful dappling. Really finely done, Harry. (Next time I'll do more older pieces as well. There are still many I've not commented on...)
