Welcome back Neil. The AJS and Ariel are to die for. My Dad had an AJS in the 50's and swore by them. What a turn out here, will check out that link :)

Oh. I thought it was a premature giant Easter Egg Hunt! I stand corrected. It looks like LAurel and Hardy on the bike in the middle photo, being stopped by the police for some comical reason. What's a Stig? A flying motorbike? The panorama looks great. It sure gives an insight how large this event is! Both in area and number of participants! Nice to see you posting again. Keep up the good work! :-)

When I was stationed in Japan, many years ago, I had a Pointer and I was told that it was an English make. Is that so? And if so, do they still make that brand? I've never heard of them before or since. It was a large heavy bike. If it was laid over on its side, I had to struggle to right by myself. It was an old rust bucket that I bought for $25. I abandoned it after it took me on an "Evil Kanivel " ride diagonally across a 30 feet wide drainage canal that was at least 20 feet deep. Hit a grassy slope just above the stone walls of the canal, skidded another 15 feet along a chicken wire fence, and wedged between a tree and the fence. As I reached the top of my arc across the canal I prayed; "God, if you get me out of this, I'll never ride another motorcycle as long as I live!" All I had was a tiny scratch about an inch long on the inside of my left thigh. No bruises, or broken bones. I walked away from that cycle and never looked back. Never been on one since. After all, there are some promise that one makes to God that one must keep! Heh! True story.
