Description
Hello, and thanks so very much for viewing my work. And a double thanks to those who comment. I appreciate any and all feedback. Please view full size if you'd like to see the details.
I hadn't realized how behind in finishing and posting I was until I realized I hadn't posted this yet. It was originally one of the promo images for my Essential Materials 01: P9+. Just to be clear, my only postwork was on the hair, which uses the awesome Desir Hair by AlfaseeD as a base. There's much more painting than you'd think if you're familiar with that hair, but much less than you'd think if you're not. It's definitely one of my new favorites, especially due to its ability to render well without transmaps. The outfit is the fantastic and versatile Ehrengarde set by Flesh Forge, known here as pjz99. He's an absolute wizard at modeling and rigging. I highly recommend his outfits, which are found at Animotions and Renderotica.
The skin actually uses my Marble material. I think it came out very well. The outfit mainly uses my Reflective, and the scene my Metal, but there's also some Cloth and Glass in there. Everything seemed to work well with the textures and displacement and bump maps.
This scene was a bit of a bear to convert to my materials, but probably not for the reasons you'd expect. That gun has a completely unnecessarily large number of material zones, while the holster doesn't have nearly enough. Both are from ArtemisX, which is an older set by the talented ElorOnceDark. It was originally for V3. I've found that the main issues I've had with using older works hasn't been modeling, but mapping, material zones, and textures. So I've been trying very hard with my own work to set up proper zones and seams.
This image just kind of came together for me. Probably because it's sort of like going back to my roots. I've established a presence on deviantART (http://kobaltkween.deviantart.com/, please check it out if you're interested), and I decided to post only what I thought were the best of my older works. I hadn't realized I used Stonemason's work so consistently, or done so much SF work, when I first started getting good with Poser.
Right now I'm working on a clothing set (commercial) and a P8/P9 version of my Light Study 01 scene. I'd really, really love it if people could say what type of props they might want in a studio scene.

The pose and camera angle say "intense power and forcefulness". The setting: I can clearly see material tweaksin evidence - this is not what you would expect to see in a Poser-based image - which do breathe that intensity into the image that perfectly complements the pose and camera angle. The 'energy blasts' look more liquid than gaseous in nature, but I do misinterpret colour all the time. Overall, a really forceful work, with beautiful material work that speaks eloquently of exhaustive attention to detail.

Great looking action and nice work with the reflections.

Great pov and pose ! An excellent work to show off your materials !

This is really wonderful--the camera angle is inspired, and I think the floor is amazing; you wouldn't think a floor was important but it gives the whole scene a realism and grounding that is important, plus it's beautiful! The pose is completely believable too. A fantastic action scene with all the elements in tune!

The first thing that caught my hair was the realistic, flowing in the movement hair. Fantastic job. The lighting and light bounces/reflections were second.

groovular image... she was voted "most likely to return fire" in High School.. this must have been a long render, worth it though!

Whoa. Yeah, from viewing your dA gallery, you should keep doing sci-fi scenes. Those materials look wonderful reflecting off of each other. The metal, the cloth, the glass all look great. Great choice of scenery, props, and clothing, and that hair does look great. It all compliments the character and her actions well. My only crit is about the energy blasts, which would probably (generally) be handled better as postwork than props. The gamer geek in me expects to see a muzzle flash on the gun and sparks/shrapnel from the blast hitting the wall behind her. As far as props I'd like to see, it would be every day stuff that has multiple uses, like that couch from your last pic, since I'm starting to do slice-of-life pics. But I don't know how well that would sell to most other users.

I'm drawn to the hair which is very well done without losing its roots to ASoul. I wish hair could render that well. The right arm sets off my spec and mesh alarms. Time for you and Zbrush. Especially after doing that hair. Such is the nature of the beast... catching everything up to your best output. Looks like it was fun.

Very nice indeed... a fantastic sci-fi action scene :-) I've been trying myself to amp up the shaders on Stonemason's Utopia Deck C set a little, relative to what PP2012 can do... it's not easy to improve on his work any. More easy to detract by fiddling with his textures... as I've found. But you clearly show that it can be done, I think ;-)
