Description

Yesterday we went to a small town called Panchimalco to see the carpets of salt or sawdust they produce for the funeral procession of Jesus The urn is stopped on his way to the village church on every carpet. Each family or group strives to make the best carpet possible. Some are huge and begin making from the previous day. This tradition comes from colonial times and takes place in all towns and villages in El Salvador. The best carpets are manufactured in the city of Sonsonate, but everywhere they are a very detailed and beautiful. It's a great example of faith to work all day to make something that will be destroyed in seconds, and that the greatest joy comes precisely from the time the carpet is being torn apart by the feet of those who carry on their shoulders the funeral urn.

A very intriguing, and uplifting image and facts, my friend. It is a beautiful way of expressing one's joy at His resurrection. In God's 'time', all our lives are as these short-lived paintings. He walks our way, and we are broken from our sins, and carried along with Him, to the promise of our resurrection too. Warm regards, and a very Happy Easter, from a damp, chilly ( snow a wee ago ) Glasgow, Scotland, John.
