Description

Taking advantage of the holidays, I went with my family to the ruins of Copan (Honduras). This trip we do every year around this time, and we have never regretted . The trip is tiring, by land, but the place is full of history and magic. This picture shows the place where the ball game of the Mayan was played. A ritual game, all teams looking to win with all his might, because it could result in the sacrifice of the losing team players.

Can you imagine if sport was played that way these day. Imagine if the soccer team having to slaughter a player if they lost! Amazing times.

I always hear of such games played by ancient people but I have yet to understand completely how they were played, and of course, each area had their own type of game and rules. How wonderful it would be to see some of these games actually being played in the old style. This is a wonderful shot with a great POV.

All ruins are captivating. They are mute witnesses of an ancient past. Lovely capture.
