Description

::Batch λrDNA-20 / 100 units per gestational period:: Lamda is the highest-rated aHuman class that Rossum’s Universal deliberately engineers on a strictly-commercial basis. Lamda-Class Humanoid Constructs perform exceedingly well with little input beyond recombinant-imprint behavioral feedback loops for a period of one (1) decade. Due to the Berne Conference Human Definition Laws, all non-military humanoid constructs are gain full post-human status at the end of a one-decade period of professional indenture. Lambda-Class construct zygotes are, thus, endowed with behavioral feedback degradation triggers, which activate after ten (10) years of aHuman life. Even with degradation triggers in place, many members of the Lambda Class revert to old, feedback-loop-inspired behavioral norms. The Alex sub-series is the only notable exception to this psychological mean. Alex sub-series Lambdas often adopt feedback-antipathic modes of behavior, deemed by aHuman psychological experts as an unforeseen, largely-benign, element of natural evolution. The most overt manifestation of feedback-antipathic modes of behavior tends to reveal itself in a rich and ever-growing “vocabulary” of symbolic gestures. Alex sub-series humanoid constructs develop deep and sometimes obsessive interests in profoundly avant-garde art forms. The most notable example of such behavior is exemplified by “Alex”, sometimes known as Alex 248, of the famed, interspecies rock-zot performance group: Duplex 8. Perhaps the most jarring, and unforeseen, aspect of Lambda Series behavioral feedback-antipathy is general ease with which aHumans bypass most natural-born Human interactions, and—instead—focus on contact with the Denebolas (their native-name for themselves is impossible for natural-born humans to pronounce.) The repercussions of extensive aHuman and alien contact have yet to play themselves out in any major way, and cultural observers are quite intense in their focus on such inter-cultural icons as Alex 248. --Rossum's Universal Humanoid Construct Series Report 2118: Introduction: Paragraphs 1 and 1a-- * * * It would seem that Duplex-8 has decided to move back in to the forefront of my mind. I think that it’s because I spent an extensive amount of time talking about the world of Duplex-8, recently, with a good friend of mine: one who looks suspiciously like Alex…one who simply replied, “yeah, cool!” when I’d asked if I could take a picture of him and use his likeness as the main visual representation of Alex, now known as Alex-248. I love it when artificial humans look suspiciously like people I know, especially if they’re cool, fellow Science Fiction aficionados. More of Duplex-8 and its universe will appear (sooner, rather than later) but until then…he’s yet another glimpse into the advertising campaign surrounding that group (though from the looks of it, Alex 248 seems to have a rather decent solo career, too…ah…androids. They’re so good at multitasking. As always, thank you for viewing, reading, and commenting, and I hope you’re all having a great week. I marked this as a photomanipulation as there was no actual Alex 248 poster in the environment depicted here.

I really enjoyed your commentary there on a most interesting and curious topic, Chip! You always have a subject up for thought and inquisition to ponder. The feeling of antipathy is a little difficult for me to comprehend... just the feeling of "ambivalence" is sometimes hard to achieve, since as humans, we seem to always be very opinionated and I guess perhaps for me, at least, it's not always plausible to so easily "disconnect". I enjoy your image greatly... as not only is the lighting great and most reflective of what the overall general atmosphere.. but its almost as though these people are in fact, completely ambivalent to what is going on. Wonderful candid capture, I must say! I like how everyone seems to be simply minding their own business, going about their "merry" way. The subway seems to be the most fashionable mode of transportation these days. Lovely idea and capture! Always a pleasure, my Friend!

You rock! Your technical paper is outstanding and totally believable. The image is spot on. I look first and read second, of course, and even without the narrative my eye was drawn to the poster on the wall. Given that there are people doing things and reflections and light and metal and interesting lines elsewhere in the image, there should be any number of things to capture my attention. However, I kept looking at the poster, so you've done your job perfectly. This is top-notch sci-fi, my friend. Out-freakin'-standing!
