Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I tasted sand while I was pulled under a wave in Laguna Beach once, but this is a lot more intense. shivers Very dramatic.

A vision of an old wooden sailing ship foundering on these rocks comes to mind. Glad we don't travel that way anymore:) This is a fabulous photo...light and wave action!

And let me say with experience that that part/location of the ocean is coooooooooooooold too...lol...At least it was when i visited it in the 80's...I had blue lips and some lower extremities afterwards...(smiles)... This is a Grand Capture!!!

I'll be back for more, Marilyn, but I wanted to comment on this here rather than in mail or on the phone. Your gallery deserves my best honors...Your water has a beautiful smooth, almost creamy surface, it seems soft & like frosted glass. And you've caught the deep sweep of the waves, long open sweeps---the whole center of the image is a sweep! And then all those smaller peaks in front & in back of the center. It's like they're sandwiching the whole. As a Lake lover, I can really relate to this shot, even though we'd never get sweeping vistas like this. And the singular rhythm of wave & rocks make it all seem of one-voice. So true to all the mystery you've seen here, so many times in your life. Also, the spray is like pure light itself...Beautiful; you do your ocean proud over & over again, and it never ceases to inspire me when you do. (And btw, I'm very, very happy about Barger's recovery. I looked ahead! I hope he remains well for a long, long time.) A real pleasure to be back here Marilyn, I'll be back for more...

I waited until between waves to zoom, so I didn't get wet! WOW! I've noticed that you capture blue so well, especially in cases like this! It pops, but it's not overpowering, just calming, which is funny since it's ocean waves doing that ocean wave thing. I have so much catching up to do, but I'm glad to make the oh-so-slow progress I'm making, especially since I get to see stuff like this. It's like you were right there, getting wet (at least up to the knees) while you took this shot.
