My name is Clive, resident in Cape Town, South Africa. I am an amateur photographer who has been enjoying the medium in a more serious manner since 2003.
I took a trip to the UK armed with a Minolta Maxxum 7000 that I had inherited from my Dad.
Out of the holiday snaps, I managed to get a few that I felt were quite good, but had no idea of how I managed to get them 'right'.
Since then I have done a couple of courses in the darkroom and joined a local photographic society where I was on the committee for a while.
Hopefully I am getting it 'right' more often these days.
I have a Minolta Maxxum 7 and being tied into the lens system, the Sony A100 DSLR was my introduction to the digital world. This has recently been upgraded to the Alpha SLT-A55 and I have to admit that I have shot more digital in the last five years than film!
My daughter Kristen (Kris10) and son Sean (fotoSean) have accounts here too, in the hope that they will learn too and share my passion! Sadly they have been rather quiet of late, much like their dad...
August 2015 marks the end of my 3 years as coordinator for the Photographic section of Renderosity. What a wonderful time of my life that I thoroughly enjoyed! Thank you all for the opportunity!
Keep the smile alive,
Clive

Oh, I love shots like these. There's people-interest...there's a nice line in this shot, defined by the seating-scooters...the colors are marvelous and the sense of action and real time/place is superbly captured. These are the kinds of shots I absolutely love. There's so much interesting stuff gong on, and there's a delicious sort of urban elegance in this. Really wonderful! I also like the fact that this can be anywhere...somewhere "exotic" or simply "every day"...it doesn't matter, and yet in terms of the wall hangings, the scooters, the people, and the overall atmosphere, this place seems to hover somewhere between the familiar and the not-so-familiar. I love photography for that purpose. Natural framing (or cropping) can so-completely change context, that one can actually photograph the "alien" world, by simply photographing bits and pieces of one's more local environment. I really get a strong sense of that in this image, and it works perfectly!
