Description

OK. These guys are almost 8 weeks old now. Yes, I do have a new lens. Yes, I am in love with it! I just wish I had it 8 weeks ago. I guess there is always next year. I will go up one more time. I don't think that I will be able to see any thing after that. I took alot today, so I will post more later. Now I think it is bed time as my alarm wi go off in 6 hours at 4am. There are alot of babies to feed before I go to work.

"Big bird"? Has it joined the Muppets? He's starting to look a wee little bit dangerous. Was he watching you? I bet so. And he's definitely curious. I can see from the foliage in the background that leaves will soon be blocking all views of the nest. This has been a very interesting series. I assume it's been a lot of fun watching the ongoings in the nest. The parents must have been aware of your presence, yet they have left you alone ( = not a threat). I wouldn't be surprised if, when they start flying, they'll try taking a closer look at you (or the spot where you've been photographing them). Keep up the good work! Looking foreward to more photos. :-)

they have grown, wow!!! outstanding image!!! & congrats on the new lens, great! :-D to answer your Q... mandarin duckies (& peacocks) were 'shot' over the fence at a bird (& hedgehog) sanctuary http://www.demikke.nl/ (located in a huge park) when I went to look at the storks http://www.demikke.nl/nl/verslag-ooievaars.htm the storks, although ringed, are wild these people placed a wagonwheel on a pole on their terrain in 2010 in the hope some wild storks would settle in/on? ;-D nest was build by an -initially single- stork. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMy_cjwNkAY they also have 2 handicapped storks 'of their own' @ this shelter, bound to the ground. all mallards (and muscovy ducks, geese. etc.) are 'wild' (and very addicted to junkfood i.e. very unhealthy bread ;-D)
