Description

This is a shot I had to take, a Giant Tortoise Mobile! A falconry and wildlife park has got some new attractions. They weigh about 8 stones each I was told. So the less than dignified transport was used to get them to their new home. I'm sure it was giving me the evil eye for capturing this moment. Check it out on zoom and his textured shell too!

What a great image - there is something very surreal about transporting a tortoise in a wheelbarrow. Thanks for sharing...

How exciting! I had a dozen tortoises for more than 40 years, and some of them are still alive and breeding at a friend's property . She is besotted by them, and they go on holiday with her in the caravan, with a mobile outside pen when they get on site! They are a lot smaller than this, mind you.

The Sulcata (Geochelone sulcata), also called the African Spurred tortoise, is the 3rd largest tortoise after the Galapagos and Aldabran tortoises. I have one that is 18" as a pet that lives under my house in the backyard! Excellent Photo.

I love the title you have used for this marvellous photo it is a great shot. His shell is amazing with all that texture, he looks to be really ancient like the rocks in the grand canyon.
