Description
Thanks for all the requests. Took me by surprise as did an illness the last six days. Feeling better and put together a few scanned Matte finished photos into a small compilation. Have seen a collage feature in CS5 somewhere in my perusing the many menus, but was unable to find it this evening.
These images really make me appreciate the multi-point focus on today's DSLR...LOL! Mind you this was but a 0-180mm zoom, so it was a rather limited lens and with the height of the cacti detail is lacking a bit.
Many come to pollinate this giant. From flying insects(left image), to moths, bats, and even birds. The Gila Woodpecker in the right image has no trouble being supported by these sturdy stalks. After the blooms have past, a maroon colored fruit forms. This fruit is harvested and simmered for several hours until it is a syrup. The syrup is filtered of seeds and pulps, and can now be used as syrup, or made into candies. Nothing goes to waste, the seeds, pulp and syrup are used to make jellies and jams.
To the kind souls that leave their mark whether a comment, rating, or save the image as a fav, you are very much appreciated, thank you!!!
Thank you all that viewed the last image below.
