Another old but goodie model here! The US White half-track as made by Airfix. No decals on this as I made 8 of them in an intense spurt to make 2 units for a deadline. My earliest half-track (1960s) models had steel colored tracks. I then read that the tracks were made of steel wire reinforced rubber, hence the black painted tracks. Since the wheels and tracks are in one piece, they are the dickens to paint properly!
This sure brings back a lot of memories for me.
Some data on the M3 half-track
Length 6.18 meters
Width 2.22 m.
Height 2.26 m.
Wheel base 3.44 m.
Weight 9.3 tons
One 0.5 inch M2HB machine gun
Engine White 160AX, 386 cubic inch
Horsepower 147hp
Fuel 230 liters
Range 282 km.
Speed 72 km./hour
If the above seems familiar, it's the same as for the half-track quad mount I posted eariler (see - http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=2320722&user_id=5273&np&np )
Enjoy!

Now... this is the Half Track I made a lot of, without the trailer it must be said.. More often to get blown to bits in war games by various rampaging Panzer units lol Super job mate, great info.. You are a good modeller it must be said.. Well done. Rob

I really love this half track mate and it's great to see it assembled and painted in such a great way. I envy your ability and skill in this area - wonderful! BTW, How do you stop T.Rex from stomping all these models when he gets hungry and enthusiastic?

Another cool post :)

I think the fact that it's an oldie is what makes it so appealing to a lot of us who grew up making these. We had a large back garden with an earth patch at the end of it. My friend and I would 'Play' war down there with our models. Who knows how many plastic vehicles and soldiers are still down there under the ground :)

I remember painting those one-piece wheels and tires! What a pain in the butt that was. Looks like you did an enviable job on these.

:-) O.M.G !!! the years roll back....I love this model, I'm another member of the club....built a few of these and those one piece wheel & tracks...oh, the joy!!! Saw one of these at Bastogne but they parked it between a hedge and our coach :-( got a couple of photos though, will have a dig in my files. This is just so cool, if I was to start building Airfix again, this would be the place to start.

A great trip down memory lane here... a must have for any fast transport section if you were an allied wargamer.. which I was, coz everyone else wanted to be "jerry" on account they could have Tiger tank's... but then matchbox released a Sherman Firfely to even up the score :o)
