Description

Any ideas? OK, she is an owl. A very young screech owl. Her nest was destroyed when a tree was cut. As you can see, they come with an attitude. They seem to fear nothing. I do mean nothing. I have never seen a screech owl of any age back down. I guess since they are only 6 to 8 inchs tall when grown, they have to be tough! OK. I guess I should have let you know that she is fine. She was raised and released last year. She did very well.

This is a great photo - so full of character. How did you get her to sit still and pose? And, considering the character of these birds, how did you get along? Were you able to build some trust? Was she scratchy, bity, bitchy? Does she come back for visits? With the character come the questions! Keep up the good work! :-)

her expression reminds me of a female politician whose face appeared on a national magazine, though given my druthers, I's be more inclined to trust this bird overall. Wonderful photo and great story with a very happy ending
