UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

When I first viewed your photo, I thought I was looking at a container ship from Vancouver Island, but I see you're from USA. Nice gallery btw.

Well, I doubt if you will ever be as Nefarious as DrO (when it comes to Precarious piling of stones), but this is a good simulation of the container ship's stacking in the background! A rather amusing parallel here. Keep up the good work! :-)

Great image!!

Great job Bill, both for capturing this creation, and for creating it. Looks like you employed some of your Army training there. The containership in the background adds to the shot.

I like the dof, and agree with Michael about the echo of stacked rocks and stacked containers. Nicely done, both the stacking and the photography! :)
goodoleboy
Great capture of the stacked rocks (ain't nature wonderful), offering a marvelous sense of depth to this fine far away image, Bill.

Bill, nice shot. This is something I posted several months ago that people do in Aruba on the east side of the island. It make for interesting conversation.

Creative concept & nice composition, Bill, though I don't think NefariousDrO needs to worry about competition from your rock stacking skills...
NefariousDrO
That is cool, especially juxtaposing it with the ship like that. Thanks for the nod, too. I should warn you, rockstacking can be addictive!

How very cool! I love flat rocks, and you got a good pile going there. What a fortuitous event that container ship was!

Well, when I saw the title, Mike was the first person I thought of.. I like the way these are stacked with the container ship appearing from behind them. Nice shot and stacking job, Bill!

yes, a beautiful capture of the strange phenomena of rocks piled on top of each other. In the shot, they seem very heavy---hope you didn't get a hernia stacking them! They make a beautiful 'frame' for the picture, a focal point, even though the image goes back in space and covers all that water & sky. Do you know the work of Andy Goldsworthy? He made a film called Rivers and Tides, and I truly recommend it to both you & tara. It's basically him setting up 'nature art', in which he uses forms like this to make beautiful hand-made creations designed to decay with the forces of nature itself. It's a slow film, but even if you see just a few of his creations---made right in nature itself---you'll get the sense of his beautiful mind & heart, and how one can make art out of nature itself. This concoction reminded me of that, as do the beautiful structures in NefariousDrO's gallery. Hope you do more...
