Alienation II: The Gathering
PREVIOUS: The Getaway
My corporeal form lives with my wonderful wife and six eccentric cats in beautiful Sedgefield, but my dreaming body is frequently elsewhere, exploring the fractal universe and marveling at nature's chaos. I love traveling to places that exist only as mathematical constructs on my computer and bringing back snapshots that sometimes remind me of the real world (whatever that means), sometimes of metamagical worlds we can visit only in our imaginations. I trained as a biologist and run a small company specialising in science publishing - writing, editing, illustrating and typesetting. For 3D world building I use Vue, Daz Studio and Poser, but I've also used Bryce since version 2 and done some work with Terragen, Carrara and Groboto. For technical illustration I use mainly Illustrator and Photoshop.
Thanks for visiting my little corner of Renderosity, and to everyone who has kindly commented on my images or added my works as a favourite, thank you for that too. Craig.

Wonderful sci-fi!! I love the idea of sentient robots but kissing robots I never before considered. Ha! why not? Very enlightening glimpse into a possible future. I'm ready. The one figure at the end of the alley looks amazing in the light, perhaps an enlightened sentient machine? Great stuff!!

I assume this is an ongoing theme, and I'm probably in the middle of something; but I can only do 2 images right now to allow my hand to heal, so I'm jumping in in the middle...The image has tons in it all by itself, though. Science Fiction versions of the human body are often, to my mind, fun but a bit rickety and gadgety. The best humanoid images pay respect to the body itself, its inner anatomy included. Even if the inner anatomy is different than ours, there has to be a respect for the integrity of all the parts; and the best sci-fi representations have that. You do, here---which is no surprise, given your background. The parts & gears follow the contours of human anatomy naturally; and they play with it at the same time, combining machine with living organism. Your alternations, in the right-most male, between reds and blues and whites, are done very well, a very fine design sense. The posing of the figures---incl the lovers on the left, and the person resting against the wall behind them, etc---is natural and very real. I really like the design on the skin (or clothing) of the right-most female. And you have these wonderful luminous "light-lines" on many of the figures, like their anatomies are divided into colonies, each delineated with periphery-lines of light. They're like some imaging that brings out heat via intense light: These seem to be key borders in the bodies of each being, generating enough heat to glow. But beyond that, you have a really fascinating street scene, worthy of a photograph itself, showing your signature sense of the 'scene' (mise en scène, to use the cinematic term), ie your sense of environs which you have total intuition for. A wonderful alley/back-street scene, with all-eradicating light pouring into it in the back. A wonderful image! And while I don't know the storyline, the image itself says a world. Terrific work, Craig.
