January 2013
Been at this site five years now and have seen a lot of growth - both artistically and spiritually thanks to the many good friends I have met here. I work with Poserpro2012, photoshop CS6, PSPX2, Perfect Effects 3 and Photomatrix 4. I love working in the material room and continue to find lots of growth there. I also do a lot of postwork fixing, special affects, and framing, all for which photoshop is indispensible. I love doing postwork; no image is anywhere near complete without it.
In the last year or so I've added quite a bit of photography to my gallery. I started with a Nikon Coolpix 9100 point and shoot. It gives amazing quality and its small size makes it easy to pack around and just grab some shots as they come into my vision. I still use it for sneaky people shots but now I use a Nikon D5100 DSLR for my more serious keeper work. Had I known how all consuming my passion for photography would become I should have jumped to a D600 low end pro camera. In my gallery you will see mostly storylines based upon my own visions and versions of Mesopotamian Mythology, sprinkled with some Celtic works and an occasional pinup or two and quite a few special requests. I have long been a writer, though a terrible speller, and so most of my images come with a storyline or poem. No image seems complete to me without words to accompany them.In high school I trained in both the Sciences and Fine Arts but when I went to university I had to choose one or the other and so I went with the life sciences. Art dropped out of my life for a long time... though I never gave up my interest in archeology and mythology. I wound up with a graduate degree in the life sciences with majors in physical geography, ecology and evolutionary biology. My love of nature and a deep naturalistic spirituality eventually led me to the wikkan tradition. Some five and a half years ago I discovered poser after coming across some great 3-d art on the web and after some six months of stumble bum practice I joined this site.Doing this type of art has released many visions and stories that were locked up inside my soul for many ages. It has allowed me to explore the life and times of my primal spiritual ancestor, a girl also named Roxanne, who lived in the Sumerian regions. She whispers the stories of these classic legends in my mind and I create the images to go with them.My stories are mostly written as dialogue and they tend to be rather long. So grab a coffee, a tea or better yet a beer, kick back, relax and stay a while.I hope you enjoy your stay here.Hugs and blessed beRoxy

It's sort of cool that the large modern skyscraper there in the back center has domes at the top. I'd imagine the views from up there are amazing. That is a huge flag draped on the side of that building. What a great place and a wonderful image :) Thank you for sharing Roxy and I too look forward to more!

What a wonderful view of the city! Interesting the Mosgue across the street from that Bill board but it does look like a fairly modern city. Looking forward to see ing more.

Rayvn: There are a lot more contrasts seen here that I was going to write about but seemed a bit long already. Briefly: yes the huge red flag against the blue building; one of the most densely populated cities in the world but still have lots of parks and trees; the domes sitting on top of the rectangular towers and these imitating mosque domes and yet on modern office buildings; the vibrant clashing colors and yet they seem in harmony here. I thought Americans flew the flag proudly in abundance but Turkey puts America to shame in how much they display their flag. That huge flag on the office tower is not atypical and whole hillsides will be covered in rock or flower flags.

what an extremely exciting and colorful vantage point. It's almost as if the city is in a dance with itself! A tremendous capture -- I love it.

As a member of the Paleologos family, the last Byzantium dynasty who lost the city to the Turks, it always moves me to hear about Istanbul. An amusing detail is that Constantine Dragases Paleologos and Mehmet II were cousins! Their grand-mothers were sisters from the Paleologos family. Great picture!

This must have benn a fascinating experience in the morning. We Westerners know so little of the oriental cultures (so how do we dare to judge them by our own standards I wonder sometimes when I read the news?). I have never been to Turky before. The blend of modern style building with the bright colors of the oriental style mix well!

I like all the colors and it is nice to see more than just the side of another building staring back when you look out your window. Beautiful and some nice narration... great info. Thanks for sharing this Roxy.

The Mosque, all by itself, surrounded by such tall and modern buildings nears the height of contrast. The lingerie ad adds some irony to image. I could only imagine the uproar if such an ad were placed across the street from a church in the States. Who knows, maybe there is one somewhere, but I doubt it. Beautiful city and it's nice to see such large trees among the buildings. I look forward to seeing more. Thanks for the journey.

It's wonderful to see this city through your eyes, Roxy! I'm looking forward to more, indeed! Quite a contrast indeed - a city established 657 years BC, with satellite dishes on nearly every roof.... You've gotta love it!
