Description

On Choisya 'Aztec'. In my garden. No, it's not a wasp...but a cuckoo, parasitic on mining bees. Possibly Nomada flava, but with 850 species in the genus, I shall hope to get a positive ID from the BWARS group. Wiki here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nomada

Excellent mimicry, they do do this well just like Volucella zonaria, the first time I saw him, I thought woah! hornet run!

If this splendid and razor sharp image is any example, then you really don't need a new Panasonic DMC-TZ camera to get sterling macro captures of the vast array of invertabrate life forms that inhabit your vast garden, Andrea. This is the ultimate in super.
