Description
Just back from a short trip to the San Francisco bay area & the Big Sur coast with some friends. Lots of photos of this spectacular area of the California coast to sift through, but thought I'd start with this one of a butterfly taken on a short hike at Andrew Molera State Park. You start this hike by wading though a shallow stream, then a narrow trail through fields of wildflowers & end up on a rugged stretch of coast. We had already hiked close to 6 miles that day, so this short hike was a nice way to finish up our day.
This was taken at maximum zoom (32x), with no postwork at all other than a slight crop.
Please zoom...

Interesting image, the color on the flower and the head of the butterfly are vibrant, but the wings are almost faded, not sure if its the way the light hit the wings or were they really that faded out. A little tip I would have cropped off the left side of this photo, and not centered the subject as much. Nice work.

Gorgeous! I can never get shots like this ... critters fly away from me at an alarming rate. (The exception being hungry mosquitoes.) This is so beautiful. It must have been a marvellous hike!
