Description
The Valloires abbey was built in the 12th century. Magnificient gardens extend today around the Cistercian abbey with a multitude of flowers plants and shrubs. This 9 hectare site boasts no fewer than 5000 varieties of plants and shrubs !

a very clear and bold shot of this abbey, your perspective allows us to journey back into the shot, when we meet the large abbey cutting across the diagonals, and sitting there like a large medieval ship. Beautiful how you lined it up with the trees on the left, and have shadow in the kitty-corner right, to balance off the dark accents in the piece. And we get a nice sweep of the land in front of it. This seems like a beautiful monks' and nuns' living quarters, though the rooms inside may have been more sparse centuries ago (to fit the austere lifestyle of the monastic calling). The church on the far left is formidable, almost like a cave...It's so nice to see these medieval structures shown so clearly in your gallery.
