Description

Now here is something interesting. The car, when properly setup, will pull wheelies from second gear to fifth. Yep, that's right, it won't pull a wheel stand from first gear. The car has to already be rolling. The trick is hitting the brake and when the rpms are in the proper range giving it the gas again. That is when the wheels leave the ground for three gears. I am still working with the setup to try and get it to do so from a standing start, but the physics of the game only simulate real physics in limited respects. There are several things that that don't work like in real life. Parts of some tracks allow the cars to slip through, and if you flip a car it just doesn't seem to roll proper. Damage is another thing. For the standard cars damage represented by stretching the polygons... Anyways, this is more about the pic than it is about how the car operates (isn't it?). Another image from GT5 on the PS3 (Not rendered by me, but photographed). I pray you have a blessed day and thanks for the view.

There's only a couple of games that have ever gotten the business of real world physics even close and viewing this I'd say GT5 certainly isn't one of them. The 427 Cobra was so nose heavy it would've never gotten any kind of air under it's front end unless it was cresting a hill under full power. I realize you're just having fun with these shots but it's crap like this that's kept most racing games sitting on the shelf at the store rather than going home with me.

Actually, hardwaretoad, it was very difficult to get the car to do this. Adjustments to the suspension, transmission, drivetrain and to the skid control system. You are right about most games that use their own version of physics for visual gratification.

It's hilarious and yet, in an odd way kinda cool. I figured that it was sourcing some new fuel namely.... helium:) hardwaretoad most certainly hit the nail on the head when he said that only a couple of games ever came close. To me nothing can compare to old school Sega Rally Championship. The physics and controls were THEE most true to life experience and I have yet to find another game that even comes close.
