My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

How cool this is; I had no idea about the history of these things. I see them in spots every so often around here. Welcome home, the best part of any trip!

A small bit of a very large history... Wonderful capture, Tara! I love the look of the water - I can almost hear it lapping against the rocks..

That is one old anchor-ring; as you can see it's caused a ring-complimenting depression in the rock, which is probably limestone, since limestone has that habit of...well...um...melting during extended periods of atmospheric weather. Okay, the rock doesn't melt so much as it weathers away very quickly, especially in the presence of fresh water, well, as fresh as rain might provide. I really like this and it reminds me of some of the things I saw in Cesky Krumlov and in Prague...similar rings used simply to tie boats to the little stairways and nooks carved into the walls of river-fronting buildings or some such place. Those rings are still there and are positively ancient, and this made me think of those, only in English rather than in Pavl's Czech, and I have to say, that is a good thing. I love the composition: the nice surprise of beautifully-colored water with leaves floating in it so nicely. This is a brilliant composition!

I can almost feel the waters gradually moving around me - especially if you stare at them long enough - help, must be getting seasick ;) fun aside, extraordinary presentation ... welcome back home on Terra Firma, BB
