Description
Act I - The Fallen Goddess - Episode 2
Derek is starting to feel nervous.
He strides past Emma's empty cell, and keeps making his way toward the end of the corridor. With Emma in training, all of the cells are vacant...except for the last one. The last cell on the left. Where "The Prisoner" has lay in a deep, silent coma for the past seven days.
He reaches the cell and peers inside. There she is, lying perfectly motionless on the cot by the wall, still dressed in the loose-fitting leather vest and shorts he had dressed her in almost a week earlier. She was naked when he brought her in. He thinks back to that day...under the blood red sky...
Suddenly, he hears something. He cocks his head and leans forward. Yes, there it is again. A voice, softly murmuring.
The Prisoner is talking in her sleep.
His first instinct is to unlock the cell and get closer, to hear what she is saying. He inserts a key into the lock, and then hesitates. She could kill me instantly.
The murmuring grows slightly louder, more insistent.
"Are you okay?" he asks. "Do you need anything?"
The Prisoner doesn't respond. But the stream of murmured words continues unbroken.
Derek licks his lips, wondering what to do. Should I get Mother Sinistra? Should I summon some guards to back me up? He takes a step away from the bars of the cell, rubbing the back of his neck, wishing he could decide what to do. If he goes in alone, she could quite literally tear his head from his body. More guards could possibly mean his safety, but it could just as easily result in more corpses. And getting Mother Sinistra involved would probably just result in The Prisoner's execution.
No, he thinks. It's my fault she's here. It's up to me to make sure she's okay. If it's a trap and it costs me my life, then so be it. I owe her that much, at least.
He unlocks the cell and steps inside.
