Description

The Art of Boolean (Part 50) This will be my 50th posting in my on going series (The Art of Boolean). The first picture that I had posted to my website actually shows the 7th in the original series but I just notice that I posted this picture exactly 10 years ago today; May 19th 2002. I will be posting the 50th image today May 19th 2012. This was not planned and it is a little spooky to say the least. The image shows the wireframe of my Saturn spaceships Achilles spine section. This section contains the fuel tanks and Life Support system design to support the crew HAB that will take 6 astronauts to Saturn and then back to earth. I build all these models in Bryce using just the Boolean objects that come with the program. It may not be the easiest way to model as this program was never design to do what me and few other like minded friends of mine do but never the less here are the results. I actually enjoy the challenge of thinking out side of the box when it comes to creating shapes as this has been quite an enjoyable experience. I hope that anyone that views these wireframe pictures will appreciate the time and effort it took to design and create these models. As with most of my designs they are a work in progress and you may see anything from a few subtle changes to the design of this section to a complete revamp of the entire spine section. Thanks again for viewing and commenting on my work, Cheers, David

Your wireframe images like this are gorgeous, not least because of the way you color-code your boolians to make a lovely view. Your level of detail is as always astonishing, and a real inspiration. I will openly admit that your ship designs have been a huge influence on my own work. Wonderful stuff!

There is something extremely satisfying involved in crafting solutions within Bryce which yield the desired result, and what-ever that "something" is, I have not found it with other programs (those of us who have the Bryce bug (some might say obsession)simply know). NefariousDrO and geirla said it in full, and I concur -- your work has been a great source of inspiration for me personally and is, I am sure, for many others as well. So cheers on your 50th post in an amazing, inspiring series, and congrats on the tenth anniversary, and here's to many, many more years of engagement with this pursuit of realism and excellence. Regards William

Actually, I always enjoyed modeling in Bryce; something that I can't say the same for Vue. I have to say, though, that I am always amazed at what you manage to create. I suspect that you may well be the best Bryce modeler ever!
