Description

USS Achilles spine section (4 views) This is what the spine section looks like from the wireframe I posted (The Art of Boolean, Part 50) a couple of days ago. As with all my designs, these are a work in progress and what you are viewing is the 4th redesign of this section 3rd variation. The views that you see in this image is just one section that will make up 6 repeated sections all together. This will be connected to the VASIMR engine that I have previously posted. This is an on going project as there are 4 more sections to go. They include the HAB for the 6 person crew, communications, Landers, and the forward Micro meteor shield in the front to protect both the crew and ship components. As the ship continues to grow so does the objects and polygons associated with it and the new size of the file that has to load into Bryce. I truly love using this program but as the ship grows so does the planning on how to get my vision across and still be able to save and load the file. This has always been the biggest challenge when using Bryce and for that reason I still have to continue using version 5.5 in order to be able to load and render the file. At some point before DAZ adds another new feature to any new version of Bryce, DAZ needs to address the issue of how much the program is capable of handling in objects and polygons. If and when DAZ addresses the file size issue and allows the newer operation systems like Windows 7 64 bit that has the ability of using installed memory larger then the 3.5 gigabytes limit of ram in the older 32 bit operating system, Bryce will never ever live up to its full potential. This also goes for the MAC OS as well. Bryce cannot continue to max out at 2 Gigabytes of ram if Bryce is to survive in today’s market place of 3D programs. There is so much more that Bryce is capable of doing if only this one issue was addressed. I would love to be able to use some of the advance features that Bryce 7 Pro has to offer if only this version could actually load the file that I was forced to create in 5.5 because of memory constraints in 7. Thanks again for viewing and commenting on my work and as with all my work unless stated otherwise all concepts and designs are mine created using only the objects that come with Bryce. Regards, David

The complexity and realism of your designs are as always astonishing. This looks to be another spectacular work on your part, and I've been eagerly awaiting each installment. I completely concur in regards to the issues with Bryce. I thoroughly enjoy using the program (even the challenge involved with constructing complex models within it, pushing its native tools beyond the intended, is a feature for me) but there is nothing more frustrating than the memory limitations -- addressing this issue with Bryce is a must do on DAZ's part. Great work David Regards William

As always truly inspiring work bro! i agree about the limitations of 6 and 7 hell all of the versions have roughly the same problem, the thought of using in the developers eyes vast amounts of polygons never came into question as many only use a terrain, some water and a tree to create so there is no problems. im stuck now with Bryce 4 again, hit the wall and cannot proceed unless i composite render (which i hate) 5 will open my new Imperium model (just) 6 errors and 7, well thats a joke i hate it with a passion. Carrara is limited too as i want more complex looking pieces to then drag them into bryce is a joke, the problem with daz is that Bryce is an after thought they care little about it (look at 7 pro for details) 2Gb of RAM useage was ok back in 2002 (well it wasnt) but now, its ludicrous. Luckily i am able with the use of a friends kind work allow more of the RAM in the programme (but its not enough) XP 64 and Windows 7 are all ive ever used, its time daz woke up hell the thought of using 12Gb of RAM in Bryce would be my dream!

Excellent as always my friend. I have always been amazed at what can do with Bryce it just goes to show that Bryce is more than just a scenery program and with a lot of hard work it beats even ships made in sci fi movies. Well Done Karl
