Description

Empis tessellata is predatory on other flies but also takes nectar, as it is doing here on the forgetmenots. I have had so many different species on these useful and pretty flowers that so many people regard as weeds. They make a marvellous ground cover until I'm ready to plant other things, and as I pull out the old plants they seed themselves for next year with no effort from me. Please ZOOM!

What a beautiful shot of this fly, but it should take care of that grass crab, coming from the right hand side. :D Atleast it is what it looks like on the shadow :)

That Robber Fly is a nasty looking insect. I commend you for ‘re-cycling’ your forgetmenots – they are pretty!

Strange looking fly, he looks rather busy noshing away. Very pretty ground cover,so nice they return each year until they are replaced. Wish dandelions were that attractive!!!
