What a delightful painting you have created here, Jock. I love the water reflections. They are really well done and the roofs with the rust on are simply super. And you have created a fantastic light in this piece. In all a wonderful painting. I am looking forward to see more !!

a beautiful magical piece. I know you paint, and I've been very bad about getting to more painters' galleries, even though I was a painter myself (long before I took up a camera). You have a magic in your work, I can't put my finger on it. Like Helle says, you have a fantastic light in the piece. It's almost out of a folk tale. But then your scene has many folklike qualities in it. And I love your free way with the paintbrush on the water reflections (whoosh, whoosh, whoosh), and that rich blue shadow in the left-most house, and the beautiful almost rust-colored roofs. And your trees & branches have real rustic presence, all brought alive by that rich green & ochre-yellow of the road. Beautiful work. Thanks for coming by my gallery, and I'm so glad it brought me to yours. I'll visit one of your photographs too, but since I started in drawing & painting, I just had to comment on this. Wonderful work.
