Description

This was taken during February's New York Fashion Week. I went through hell to get this. I get an invitation to be at the fashion event. I fill it out, RSVP, 3 weeks ahead of schedule, and I'm thinking I'm good to go. When I get to the check-in, my name is not on the list. They put me on the list of, if there are some seats available, we'll give you one. A.K.A., we gotta let the important people in first. So, OF COURSE all of the positions get filled! They give me a paper wrist band, and tell me to stand with the other photographers. When I get to the bouncers, they push me aside, saying that I don't belong here. I argue with them, then the coordinator, who looks like a model for Sunny Delight, starts to belittle me, saying, if I'm a photographer, where is my equipment. So, I showed him my camera bag with my equipment in it, and that shut him up. I get seeded with the other photographers, who didn't speak proper English, getting in the way of the shot, pissing each other off, fighting for every inch of space. Would you believe that I took 100+ photos, and only this one came out well? I originally wanted the model to be by herself with a narrow DOF, but with all the photographers getting in the way, that wasn't happening. So, I embraced the obscurity, and framed for the audience to be in this shot, and I captured it. The show was over, and I was pissed. But despite all of that, I wanted to make this photo count, so I did some B&W magic on it, and placed it up on Model Mayhem. Guess what? That model in the photo, who I never met before in my life, contacted me because she really liked the photo. She wants to work with me directly. WHAT AN IRONIC WORLD! LOL!!!!!!
