Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

This is almost otherworldly - very much reminds me of Pandora from the movie 'Avatar.' So lush and green... Just indescribable. A wonderful shot, Bill!

I am very familiar with our Rain Forests in North Queensland, but this takes the cake ;) - and that is an awful lot of rain! (I am glad you converted that into meters, thanks Bill) But this makes a spectacular photo, really intense, with all that moss WOW ... and what a brill image, also thanks for the link, BB

tit for tat, lol, you commented on my LWITG shot, I'll comment on yours. For me, such lush captures are hard to 'compose' because there's so much to work with, and such overlay of nature doesn't make it easy for the 'composer' to find a beginning, middle & end. But, in this laden and opulent image, there are truly 'markers'---ie, overall forms that define the whole. Such as the meeting of two huge branches that form a "V" on the left middle edge. And the big vertical black area about 2/3 of the way along the top (as we move to the right). Or the row of brilliant light moving from that black area down to the center of the image, etc. Your eye found pattern & composition in all this. Fine seeing. And that streak of broad light---that I mentioned above---is beautiful, as a beautiful place to center on as one journeys through the 'jungle' here. And the rest is a symphony of lacework and overwrought drapery, beautiful lit greens alongside shadowed greens, and a tapestry of hanging vines both of foliage and of light & dark. A very lush, flowing, tangle-of-a-piece; a multi-voiced fugue w/ lots of counterpoint and beautiful light. And it's soft too. "In medias res"---right in the middle of things: not an easy challenge for a photographer. But wholly natural, in your hands. Very lush work.
