Aenna came from the northlands, though you’d never suspect it to look at her. The unholy union of a Tarkanian warlord and a raped Hergovite maiden, she was doomed from her birth. The monster of her true father was in her blood, yet she didn’t even have his pitiful example for guidance. Her mother died in another Tarkanian raid soon after she was born. Left to die, she was found by travelers who buried the dead, and took the few survivors with them to a nearby town. Aenna went from family to family for years, gradually migrating south through no intent of her own. Finally, she ended up in an orphanage in a small town on the northern Carellonian coast. Through it all, she was not well treated.

You may ask which came first, the dragon or the egg, but in Aenna’s case, it didn’t matter. When she found those of kind and good heart, who might actually care for her and raise her to be nicer, she’d turn on them. In no time, she was on the streets. Not long after that, she was working for a brothel. And not long after that, she was on the high seas, learning to become a pirate and a swashbuckler. She ended up back in her native Hergovine and began a search for her true father along the Tarkanian border. When she found him, she seduced him, and gutted him. Those she had freed from his cruelty, she escorted to the nearest city and sold into slavery. With the money from her little adventure, she hired masters to teach her even more fighting skills, the secrets of the ancient Tarkanian warrior ways. She soon had a growing reputation. They called her the Bloody Ranger. At length, she met Jeulae, a Guardian of the Sisters of the Pearl, and fell madly in lust. The two soon found themselves wanted by nearly every bandit chieftain and warlord in Tarkania. Realizing they couldn’t survive on their own for long with so many enemies, they began to attract others. The Crimson Velvet Venture Company was born. It was born with evil, both from within and from without.
