I'm skipping around, I'll get to your latest pieces in the next days, but I want to get back to your paintings, since I've missed so many. YOu spoke of the difficulties of painting in nature, and how the light changes, the boats come by, etc etc. I think the masters, over the centuries, just focussed on one moment, and kept it in their minds, as they painted. They'd just forget about the the light-changes and pedestrians, etc, as much as they could; they'd choose one kind of light they liked and just kept it fresh in their memory. So, in essence, they'd paint half from what was in front of them, and half from memory. (DO you know Monet's series of Hay Stack paintings? Or his many paintings of great cathedrals? He painted extremely specific times of day, so one painting would be a haystack in early morning light, another painting in late morning light, then another in late day light, etc; and he had maybe 10 minutes to capture the light in each case, because the light, as you know, changes very quickly So he painted part from nature and part from memory, while he stood there with his easel. Van Gogh painted such explosive light and hues, he was forced to paint from memory as much as from nature, because nothing in nature could stay that vivid, that long.) So your problems have been shared by many artists over the centuries (you're in good company): No one has found the perfect solution yet. And truly, as the artist, you can remove whatever gets in your way, lol, or just shift it, adjust it, whatever...I know that's "cheating," but the masters did it all the time. I know you want to paint what you see, you're being very truthful to your subject. But if someone comes by and parks their car while you're painting, you can just leave it out of the painting. I respect your fidelity to the subject though. I know how much it teaches us, as artists... Your brush work has such vitality. You "summarize" water with with those free floating lines. And the sun-reflection is so free, jutting down the water's surface with no care. The sun & clouds have a slightly apocalyptic feeling (look at van Gogh's "Starry Night", on Google). The colors have lovely deep hues. Lots of drama in the sky overall. The ptg has a very "quick" feeling, meaning it feels like it came out in a sudden burst of inspiration (even though I'm sure it took lots of time). I love how this just 'whooshes' onto the page. Hope you keep painting, you're getting at essences & essential energies in your work...

Very nice abstract work. Sunset is a miracle in the nature.
