Description
I posted a picture of the Royal Gorge before from the cable car but this view is near the small zoo.
it is the highest bridge in the USA and Hanging 1,053 feet above the Arkansas River it was the world's highest suspension bridge.
The Royal Gorge is considered a world wonder, and is often referred to as the Grand Canyon of the Arkansas River. Yet it's unlike any other canyon. The width at the canyon bottom is no more than 40 to 50 feet, while the top measures only a few hundred feet wide.
In 1929 Canon City authorized the building of the Royal Gorge Bridge, which at 955 feet (291 m) above the river held the record of highest bridge in the world from 1929 to 2003. The bridge forms the kernel of Royal Gorge Park, a theme park owned and run by the city

Sure would be hard for someone that has fear of heights to cross this bridge. Wonderful capture of this impressive structure. Building this bridge must have been a major feat in engineering. The only way I can see they could have done this is to lift the span and place it with helicopter, and due to the size it would likely be 3 or 4 helicopters having to do this. An amazing feat in precision flying for 2 or more helicopters to try and maneuver such a large, heavy bridge span into place.
