Description
I am one month early in posting this image. In my haste to compose it, and with my old brain not what it used to be, I was thinking this day would have been my parents 78th wedding anniversary. But no, as I was in the midst of putting this image together, I realized they were married June 30th, 1934. So I'm a little off. But the sentiment still remains.
If they were still alive, my Mother would be 103 and my Father, 109. They lived together and loved each other up to the very end. I won't go into those details. But I must share with you their beginning.
They were married in Beach, North Dakota. My Father had a 1933 Ford Coupe, (when I saw this 1934 Ford model by Nationale7, I immediately thought of my folks and making this render). My Dad cussed the brakes on that '33. They were mechanical brakes he said that always went out of adjustment. On the way out to get married, he ran into a herd of cows that were standing in the middle of the highway when he came around a blind curve. He bent up both front fenders and mangled the headlights a little, but nothing too serious. He was still able to drive so he was only a little bit late for the wedding. They later got the car body repaired for $35.00, a small fortune for them back then.
They spent their honeymoon in Yellowstone Park. Two weeks of living and camping in a tent. My Father being the industrious type, was able to find some part-time work at the ranger station and helped supplement their expenses. They lived off of fresh fish and love and created some of the best memories of their lives.
This render is my interpretation of when they first arrived at the park and set up camp. I can just about imagine their excitement and joy of just being there with all that natural beauty surrounding them. A stark contrast with the plains of North Dakota with no trees and lots of wind and the drought plagueing the nation at that time. I remember they would always get a smile on their faces anytime they were reminded of their honeymoon and the happy times they had on it.
Thank you for taking a peek! Your support is greatly appreciated!
